You Are Strong entry for Lindy's and More than Words challenges

Hi everyone, it's been a crazy few last weeks and I've not had the chance to do many projects outside my Design Team tasks, so I am super excited about having the chance to submit this layout for 2 of my favorite challenge sites Lindy's and More than Words.

This inspiration for this page came from both challenges.

Let's start with the Lindy's challenge:

I started with the following items, but a few changed along the way. I was inspired by the dark contour of the image with the lighter blue from the car giving it some light in the middle of the page. The old car got me the idea of using a distressed look for my page. Products used are listed below.

I love how I was able to add the gorgeous colors to this stunning 7 Dots studio background paper:

Now time for the More Than Words Challenge

As I saw the FEARLESS part of the challenge I knew exactly what picture I had to use for my page. During our vacation in Riviera-Maya, we went on an excursion called Jungle Maya. Now 2 activities were a challenge for my eldest son Philippe (on the left side of the photo) and myself. We are both scarred of heights and during this excursion we had to do Zip lines and also repelling into a Cenote.

This picture was taken in the Cenote just after the repelling part of the Excursion. No need to tell you that we were really pleased to have completed this part. Letting yourself drop backwards into a hole when you do not see the bottom for someone who is scared of heights is quite a challenge. But we made it and I was especially proud of Philippe for going thru with this challenge.

The GRUNGE part of the challenge gave me the idea of using the gears, in zip line and also in the repelling part, the gears play a huge element in both activities, then some distressing and dark spots to add to the Jungle element of our excursion. Here are a few more detailed pictures:

I found theses quotes, they were just PERFECT for the description of the day:

Carpe Diem for Creative Embellishments September Challenge

Huge Tag time, oh how I LOVE these huge tags. I've been enjoying working with them so much to give as gifts.

I started with adding a paper for my background, then inked a stencil, then some stamping with one of my favorites Creative Embellishments stamps:

As ornaments I used the large gear set, the pieces are beautiful.

Large Gear Set Black (large black gears set 3")

Thanks for stopping by !

Seabreeze for Creative Embellishments

Good morning everyone, wow, I am the only one wanting the summer to last forever? Living in Canada, we never know what our weather will be like in the summer, so often we head down south for our Summer vacations. For this project, I have another old picture from our family vacations to Virginia Beach. This one was taken on our very first trip there. I think it was most likely 2001 or 2002. My sons were very young, but loved to play in the waves.

I started this layout wanting a darker toned summer page. My starting point with this Blue Fern Studio paper was to add a layer of embossing powder on my background thru a stencil, then I added the dark blue embossing powder.

Next step was to start the layering of my chipboard. Some I left natural color (title and butterfly).

I heat embossed in Navy blue the anchor and added some white twine and a flower as an ornament:

The clock I embossed with a multitoned embossing powder:

Once my chipboard were positioned, I started my layering. I have several layers of paper, some paper doilies then I finished with my flowers and some larger twine and cheese cloth.
The very last step is to add some splatters of liquid gesso, I enjoy the dimension this adds to the project.

So what is your favorite vacation place?
Thanks for looking, I wish you a wonderful crafty day !

Explore for Creative Embellishments & Mixed Media & Art challenge

Hi everyone, I hope you are enjoying your summer and have had some time to play in the pool, visit a lake or my favorite go to the Beach.

With my teens, it is getting harder to get them to pose for pictures now, so I've been having fun looking at old vacation pictures. About 8 years ago, we went to Virginia Beach and the waves were super high. I have this beautiful picture of my boys and my husband daring to go into the waves. I thought it would make an awesome layout.

This 7 Dots Studio paper I felt was perfect for a beach themed page. I started by adding some layers of details with stencils (Anchor, letters & lines). I love the texture it gives to the back of the page.
I covered my chipboard with black gesso, then played with my Finnabair Waxes. I just love how simple they are to use and the details that it can bring. I played with 4 colors (Metallic wax Brushed Iron & White Gold, Antique Brilliance Mystic Turquoise and Opal Magic Wax Turquoise Satin) You can see the details of the waxed on my close up pictures below, my favorite is the seahorse, it came out perfectly.
I added some sequins to give it some light:
On the grunge frame, I only played with the Brushed Iron:
For added texture I included some paper die-cut greens, some straw and cotton cheese:

Now there is this wonderful monthly challenge over on the Mixed Media & Art blog. I am taking the opportunity to make this my first participation in those challenges.

Challenge board

Now I did not have turtles on hand, but the seahorses I believe would qualify in this challenge as well as the blue altering of the chipboards.

I hope you like my take on your challenge !

I wish everyone a wonderful day !
