May projects for Blue Fern Studio

Good morning bloggers, It's my turn to showcase some fun projects made with various paper collections from Blue Fern Studios. Today, I'll be sharing with you, 2 cards and 2 layouts.

Project # 1 May Mother's day cards

Mother's day is just around the corner and I thought I would provide your 2 different cards that I made for my mother and mother in law.

First Card

For this card, I used papers from Homespun collection, Minis & Picturesque papers, Lace 10, Embossing Powders Cotton Candy, Flowers Christmas & Heartland blooms.

Second Card

For this card, I used the same paper collection, but added different elements like the use of the Honeycomb stamp set, 14 Karat Emblossing Powder, Barb's Medallion chipboard, Chesterville Blooms Flowers & Lace 4.

Layout #1: Cherish

This amazing picture was the inspiration for this next layout, my friend Brittany's daughter is just too cute for words in her peach tutu. I was inspired to use the Amber & Apricot collection for this layout.

From the Amber & Apricot collection I chose to use: Flora, Friendship & Tweet Melody papers

Under the photo I used the Amber & Apricot printed chipboard with a touch of colored cotton cloth. In my floral arrangements I used flowers from the Apricot Blooms & Harvest Lilies sets.

I decided to cut out the little bird and feathers from one of my papers to add onto the side of my picture. I love the softness it was bringing.

The Cherish chipboard is simply stained a bid darker for more contrast with the paper. You will also find under the Amber & Apricot flowers, an embossed image of the Weathered Doily Stamp in Baby Pink embossing powder.

Layout #2: Happy

I've had my heart set on crafting this beautiful picture of my niece with her family for a while now. When going thru my papers, I fell on Pacific Coast from the Wanderlust paper collection and knew that this was the perfect one for this picture.

I started by applying a coat of white gesso under my picture are to highlight the focus. Then added some touched of sepia stamping with the Remnants Collage Stamp Set

I used various papers from the Wanderlust collection to build my layers under my picture. I hear embossed in Breeze color the Happy chipboard title.

The chicken wire chipboard is painted in 2 different colors to give it an old look.

The last step was to stamp some flowers, add a few drop of white gesso, and there you go an old feel kind of  layout.

April projects for Blue Fern Studios

Hi Blue Fern Fans, it's my turn today on the blog and I have 2 layouts for you today.

Câlin Step by Step layout with Wanderlost collection

This month, I would like to show you a step by step on building the foundation for this layout:

I always start my process by coating my paper with clear gesso. The clear gesso will act as a barrier and let you add watercolors or sprays easily to your layout.

Once my gesso is dry, I use a stencil and mat gel medium. Then I add my embossing powder to my gel medium and heat emboss. I love adding embossing to my backgrounds. I've found that gel mat medium works really well to emboss this way. I used Honey Embossing Powder on my layout.

Then I like to add inks to my background. I try to match my inks to some of the darker colors already on the paper. In this case, a dark teal blue. I sprints some water on the edges to give it a blurry effect and let it dry. You can use a heat gun to goa faster if you wish. Once dry, I use the same ink and add splatters with a small fine tip paintbrush and let dry again.

Last step for the background is to add some die-cut pieces and white some white glue, I add on some seedlings for extra texture. On this background I used the Harvest Seedlings.

For dimension, I enjoy adding chipboards to my pages. I heat embossed with a slightly darker tone this time to give contrast with the initial one placed on the background. On my chipboard I used Ginger Embossing Powder. I LOVE the metal effect it gives.

Last steps are just to layer your Pictures with different pieces of cut out paper, printed chipboard, flowers and ornements.

Here are a few more images of my layout:

The picture was taken at my son's high school graduation, it was a proud moment, I felt this quote was just perfect because it truly is what a hope for him to chose a career that will make him happy.

Sassy... Serendipity collection

This quote spoke to me.... The Best Moments Happen when they are Unplanned....

oh how true.... I am a girl that is often spontaneous, so this quote is truly one perfect for me.

I truly love this Chesterville flower, soft and delicate it was perfect tp highlight the light colors on this beautiful background.

I also added the leaves and small black flowers from the Wanderlust Vine set.

Behind the quote I used ginger embossing powder with the Vintage Edges stamp set to give some texture on my background.

I love this Sassy chipboard title and wanted it to pop off the page. I also wanted to give focus on the teal elements of this gorgeous paper. I chose to add only a layer of Caribbean glitter over the chipboard, wow it gave a spectacular finish. Underneath is another piece of chipboard heat embossed with Ginger Embossing Powder. This one is becoming part of my favorites.

Blue Fern Studios March projects

Hi bloggers, I can't believe that it's March already. Time is flying but, but I am enjoying crafting for the Blue Fern Studios Design team. This month, I'll be sharing 2 layouts and 1 off the page project.

Capture the Moment Layout #1

The starting point for this layout was this beautiful picture of my 2 sons and I taken during our Riviera Maya vacation last summer. I wanted to extend on my layout the colors of my picture, so a blue background with a sandy beach.

I chose the beige background from In the Mood - Flirty paper. Once covered with Gesso, I layed my foundation of ink on the top half.

I wanted to have multi tones on my chipboard to give it more dimension. I opted to cover my clock and rectangle pieces in Ginger, Black & Gold and finally a touch of Oatmeal embossing powders.

The bottom of the layout, in order to create a beach feel effect I worked with cheese cloth and wool fibers that I glued with gel medium. Then I added touches of small stones and 4 colors of seedlings: Paprika, Twig, Gold Nugget & Glass.

Once my background was complete, I chose to build my layers. For my title, I chose to use 14 Karat embossing powder. I love the glitter it adds to the layout.

This last picture shows the beautiful Blue Fern flowers, more details on the embossed chipboard & seedlings. I also included Rose Gold glitter but it's impossible to capture the glitter on my picture.

Formidable layout # 2

Time for another magnificent picture of my gorgeous niece with her family. I just love the vibrancy of the red in the picture and chose to use that for my highlights.

Remnants Westfield is my chosen paper for this layout.

I had fun playing with different techniques on this layout. The first step was to emboss different sections with the Green Ivory Embossing Powder.  I used 2 stamps to emboss on my background paper: Weathered Doily & Honeycomb.

I chose to alter the circle chipboard with black gesso, and some waxes to give them an antique look & feel.

I love adding the small sentiments from the Remnants printed chipboard set.

Can you see the top of my tags? I like making my own tags, they make wonderful ornaments for my layering. Here is used leftovers of my Remnants collection.

I wanted to add some shine to my flowers, so I added touches of white & gold glitter

Embossing Powder: Green Ivory

Glitter: White & Gold

Off the page project: Vision Board 2018

Have you ever made a vision board? This year at work, I hosted a team event where we I invited our team members to create their combined work & personal vision board for 2018.

The goal of a vision board is that if you see you goals on a daily level... you set-up you mind to making them happen.

To set-up my board I used many elements from my Blue Fern collection.

The first step was making my chipboard world map. I wanted it to pop out so I chose Blue Sky embossing powder:

Second elements where to use my gorgeous Blue Fern stamp sets. I love the words Family and Hopes & Dreams. I found them perfect for the family section of my board.

To create sections, I chose to use the frames in the Homespun printed chipboard set:

Here we can see a printed frame and the word Journey, both from my stamp stash.

And lastly, more of the Homespun printed chipboard elements. They are just adorable.

Disclaimer: I did pull off the internet and Pinterest some quotes that I found to complete the vision board.

Embossing Powder: Blue Sky

Stamps:
