#Fun for Creative Embellishments

Halloween is just around the corner, like a kid, I still love getting dressed up for work or for a Halloween party. I've been wanting to capture this moment on paper for a while now. I just love this picture of me and my friends taken a few years ago.

The starting point of this page was inspired by the cob web print on this old paper collection that I had resting in my stock.
The layout was a simple one to do, I just altered my chipboards by covering them with a coat of black gesso, then added dabbles of white gesso and Finnabair waxes. I used the following:
  • Antique Brilliance Amethyst Magic
  • Opal Magic Wax Royal Robes
  • Metallique Wax Brushed Iron
Last elements for a spooky feel to your page are splatters of white & black gesso.
I wish all of you a wonderful upcoming Halloween day !
Other products used:
  • Finnabair: Clear & White Gesso
  • Cuts2luv flair
  • Wild Orchid craft flowers
  • Cheese cloth

Passion -Cuts2luv for MixedUp Magazine

A few months ago, the Cuts2luv team were invited to participate on a special project for the Mixed Up online magazine.

Have you seen Mixed Up magazine? It's a Mixed Media focus online publication and boy was it exciting to have the opportunity to present a project along side my fabulous team members Sandra Bernard, Caroline Elliam, Valerie Ouellet and so many popular Mixed Media artists like Louise Nelson, Rikka Kovasin, Torsa Saha and Mandy Leevre-Koel.

Today I would like to share this project with you.

For this project, I used a 6 x 6 canvas with deep canvas.

I stenciled my background then played with different stains to color my background. Once I added my chipboard, I added some black beads and gel paste to increase the affects.

I used Art Alchemy wax to color my chipboard that was covered in black gesso.

To add extra texture, I used black straw from 13@rts.

I used 2 Cuts2luv flairs and the Cuts2luv chipboard title:

I particularly love this hand drawn flair from Valerie Ouellet:

The journal layout:

Here are the Cuts2luv products that I used on my canvas

I hope you like my project, thanks for stopping by !

Travel for Cuts2luv and More than Words challenge

It's my turn to show you how the Cuts2luv mood board inspired me this month. At the same time, I had another source of inspiration for this page, it came from the More Than Words challenge blog.

Let's start with the Cuts2luv moodboard, where I incorporated:
  • Color combo
  • Leaves for embellishments
  • and a photo that has trees

Now for the More than Words challenge: HERE

Word Inspiration - DELICATE

In regards to the word DELICATE, this picture was taken at the foot of the Newschwanstein Castle. The castle itself has inside so many delicate details from an architectural perspective. The outside is light and soft and probably why this was the inspiration for the famous Disney Cinderella Castle. I love the walk we had to take to get up to the castle, it has some of the most breath taking views of the Bavaria region. I am in awe of the delicate details on the Castle, when you consider that back then crown moldings and many of the woodwork like doors and furniture were all carved by hand, it is just stunning. The details in the iron work floors of wood and ceramics are also amazing. Just a wonderful site to visit.

Creative Challenge - FABRICS

On my page, I included different types of fabric from the lace flowers to soft white tulle. I love the dimension this give to the page.

Here is a closer look at the tulle:

And the lace flowers that I received as a gift from a crafty friend from the Netherlands. Isn't it beautiful?

I enjoy adding a stencil to my background, especially this Tim Holtz floral pattern. I just love the dimension it gives.

And no layout is finished without one of my favorites Cuts2luv flairs. This quote was just perfect:

This leaves flair was a perfect fit for this fall picture:

Guest designer project for Lindy's Gang

Hi everyone, I recently had the opportunity to create a special project for the Lindy's gang blog. What and honor this has been. I am a huge fan of my Lindy's products and have been lucky to have won several time the monthly challenges.

This project is one close to my heart because I made this one for a special person. My best friend's daughter is battling Osteosarcoma. She's gone thru several rounds of chemo and underwent her knee surgery. She still has many more rounds of chemo to go thru and I thought that this would bring her comfort for the upcoming roads ahead.

If you want more pictures, and my step-by-step, please visit the Lindy's blog post here:  France

Albert Einstein for 7 Dots Studio and Lindy's blog challenges

Hi everyone, I've been loving the inspiration that I am getting when I look at many online challenges.

For this page, I was inspired by the following 2 blog challenges :

&

For my page, I chose Albert Einstein, I like many of his quotes, especially this one. I believe that he must have been someone quite special and so open minded. I always like to try new things and sometimes trial by error is the best way to learn. That is why I chose him, because in my Scrapbooking, that is what I like to do... TRY new things.

The Tim Holtz quote: Today is full of possibilities is one that I felt fit well with Albert Einstein's character.

Making a beautiful page is often easier when you love the paper collection. I used this 7 dots paper to start. Then I added some stenciling work in numbers and lines with embossing paste & gesso. I felt that those 2 stencils sent well with the picture. Then I wanted to add more texture and added microbeads with gel medium.

I heat embossed the chipboard with Lindy's embossing powder.

I added some touches of colors with the Lindy's sprays:

The Orange color of the Lindy's color combo is defined by the rusted metal gears. Again, I felt that they were perfect for this Albert Einstein page.

Here is the inspiration wheel from 7 Dots studio, the DT did awesome work.

Here is the color combo for the Lindy's challenge:

Products used are:

7 Dots studio paper
Tim Holtz words & stencils
Finnabair gears & microbeads
Clear & Black Gesso
Creative Embellishments chipboard
Cuts2luv flair

Thanks for stopping by, I wish you a wonderful crafty day !

Card & Tag for Creative Embellishments

Are you a card maker? If yes, have you ever considered using chipies on your projects? I love how simple they are to use and how I can easily modify them to add them to my projects.

You've seen me use these before, I am just enjoying the black gears from Creative Embellishments. The clock I altered by embossing it with Lindy's Midnight Teal. The tag is a chipboard as well, it comes in a set of 5 that you can either create a lovely mini-album or use individually. I covered it with black gesso to match the gears.

I also embossed the back part of my card with the same powder to increase the dimension. Layering chipboard, thread and flair make a beautiful simple card.

I enjoy playing with Lindy's inks, and Time travel teal was just perfect to add some splatters. Also white gesso, it gives a nice rustic look.
