Magic School

Oh my a scrapbooking challenge with a subtil touch of Harry Potter, of course I have to look into this. Marina Syskova from 7 dots studio is setting up a project called Magic School. So I am keeping my fingers crossed that google translate will be my friend and translate well the required challenges from Russian to either English or French. Anyways, I think I'll give this a try. Here is to google translate doing some Magic.

13@rts Sketch challenge

So I am still working on a few more pages for my mom's Las Vegas vacation album. For this next page, I was inspired by the 13@rts October sketch challenge.
You can find it here: Facebook October 13@rts challenge
Papers I used:
Background: Aura Rose
Cut-Out Flowers: Out of the Blue

For the 13@arts products I used my clear and white Gesso as the foundation of my page.
Other products: Badges from Cuts2Luv, sticker from Tim Holtz, flowers fromWild Orchid Crafts and die-cuts that were sent by a friend.
Thanks for the inspiration !

Happy Birthday Mom !

Happy Birthday Mom !
Last august as a pre-birthday gift, I took her to Las Vegas... Just the two of us. Now if you have not noticed, most of my pages are with pictures of Las Vegas, because I am building her a 12 x 12 album as her last gift.
Here are a few more pages that I've done during the online challenge at Scrap Aux Puces. We were asked to scraplift pages of other talented girls that I've gottent to know because of our shared passion for Scrapbooking.
Scraplift of Missourie (aka Daisy):
Las Vegas at night....
I love her work, it's vibrant and has debth, here is the page that I scraplifted from Daisy:
This next page was a scraplift of July:
Mom and Elvis (aka Tylor James)
Here is her page:
This one is from Nellie:

Lindy's Stamp Gang October challenge

It's a fall inspired color board this month at Lindy's Stamp Gang.
What a beautiful board:
I had this beautiful picture of the Venetian shopping center gondola ride that had just the perfect color to work with. Added bonus that it fits well in the album that I am making for my mom
Here is the step by step on how I built my page:
First, I started my page by embossing a series of butteflies, letters and shapes with the Lindy's Embossing powders:
Then I added a touch of color with my sprays:
I like the effect of the drops of sprays, then I added some rub-ons to increase the tone-on-tone effect.
Started to add my elements, an embossed flowe, die-cuts, flowers and my Cuts2Luv badges.

Love the look of the different tone enbossed butterflies:

Thanks for the inspiration to the Lindy's Design team,

Life is better when you are laughing

I am in full perparation mode for my mom's birthday gift...
In August, I took my mom on a vacation, just the two of us. I asked her what she wanted and she mentionned that she'd love to go back to Vegas. So off we went...
As part of my gift, I am making her a Las Vegas 12 x 12 album of some of my favorite pictures and moments of our trip. For this page, I was inspired by two challenges :
More than Words and Cuts2Luv.
Let's start with More than Words : Ombre and Change
For the Ombre part of the challenge, I chose to focus on different hues of green on my page, I love the softness it gave the page. I rarely use black and white pictures, but I truly like how it all came together.
For the change part of the challenge, well there are many for this page. First let's use my mom's birthday... Turning 70 is a big thing for her, and with my dad being gone, she's been feeling a bit alone. This "Just the two of us" trip was a perfect way to make her feel special. My change was taking the time to give my mom some dedicated time, balancing work, family and day to day often does not give me much free time, so it was fun to be just us girls for a few days. It was the first trip that we've ever taken just the two of us, and if I am lucky, I'll get the chance to do this again someday.
Here is the beautiful inspiration board:

My second entry is for the October challenge at Cuts2Luv, here is the gorgeous moodboard:
If I had on-hand different shades of purple flowers, I would have used that color scheme, but I just have 1 or 2, so it was just easier to go with the green colors... Maybe next time... (Now I need to order more purple flowers...)

For my page I used the sketch and the metalic elements...and of course my badges.
I have two, can you find them?
Thanks to both Design Teams for the Wonderful challenges...

Bliss- Steampunk style

It’s the beginning of fall here in Canada, time to start playing with rusty colors on our pages and I found the perfect challenge to do so. For my page I was inspired by 2 blog challenges. The first from 7 Dots studio and the 2nd from Creative Scrappers.
Steampunk... wow, I was amazed with the Design Team creations. I love the mixture of the metal and clock ornaments and I am fascinated on the level of detail that you find on many pages. Now I was faced with an issue.... The picture for my page, I like to harmonize mine with my pages but I had nothing in my stash that would work well with this style. I know an extremely talented photographer in Montreal Maxime Thibodeau, so I went and asked if I could use one of his pictures for my layout.

This page was truly fun to do; I had many of these elements in my stash just gathering dust. Too often I purchase embellishments and it takes forever for me to decide to use them. Over the years I have to say I have gathered quite a huge amount. Here is a closer look:
To color the chipboard I used black paint for my base then added silve crackle Finnabair medium. Once dry I added touches of copper metalic paint I gesso. Love how this turned out.
I love adding quotes to my pages and this is one of my favorites:

The picture... His work is just amazing, his ability to capture de details thru his lens is mind-blowing. His most recent pieces focus on hairstyles and he's been published in a few magazines. He is such a sweet young man and I know we will be seeing more and more of his work. Here is a closer look at his breathtaking picture:

If you want to see more of his work, go visit his site:
Now, here is the beautiful inspiration board from 7 Dots Studio and link to join in on the fun:

I also was inspired by the sketch of the month from Creative Scrappers. I have to admit that my first starting point to create my page ended up in the trash bin... Then I saw this sketch and I knew I just had the perfect Blue Fern Studio chipboards to make this a perfect layout.

Cuts2luv is sponsoring the challenge this month over at the Creative Scrapper blog. It’s no secret that I am a great fan of their badges. Here is another close look of one that I added on my page:
Well I hope you enjoyed my take on the challenges. Thanks for the inspiration to both Creative teams.
A special thanks to Maxime Thibodeau for letting me use his work on my page.
