Passion -Cuts2luv for MixedUp Magazine

A few months ago, the Cuts2luv team were invited to participate on a special project for the Mixed Up online magazine.

Have you seen Mixed Up magazine? It's a Mixed Media focus online publication and boy was it exciting to have the opportunity to present a project along side my fabulous team members Sandra Bernard, Caroline Elliam, Valerie Ouellet and so many popular Mixed Media artists like Louise Nelson, Rikka Kovasin, Torsa Saha and Mandy Leevre-Koel.

Today I would like to share this project with you.

For this project, I used a 6 x 6 canvas with deep canvas.

I stenciled my background then played with different stains to color my background. Once I added my chipboard, I added some black beads and gel paste to increase the affects.

I used Art Alchemy wax to color my chipboard that was covered in black gesso.

To add extra texture, I used black straw from 13@rts.

I used 2 Cuts2luv flairs and the Cuts2luv chipboard title:

I particularly love this hand drawn flair from Valerie Ouellet:

The journal layout:

Here are the Cuts2luv products that I used on my canvas

I hope you like my project, thanks for stopping by !

Cuts2Luv November challenge

It's that time again for a fantastic challenge over at the Cuts2Luv blog.

I find it so easy to create when I have a starting point. Either the sketch, the color scheme and in this case the title. I had this beautiful picture with Donna Downey during onr of her clsses in Montreal a few years back. I especially loved making this piece with Pan Pastels.

I followed the Moodboard sections: Color Combo, Sketch, lined paper & the word Dream

Wishing you a great day !

Inspiration Wednesdays- Week 7

Colors Colors Colors... Have you noticed that my Inspiration Wednesday tend to be on the turquoise side? Oh what can I say, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my turquoise...

Donna had a fabulous floral print for her page this time, but since I am not a very floral style gal, I had nothing remotly close to that in my stock. Since I am trying to use up my stock, I found this beautiful paper that just felt perfect. Yes it has turquoise, but love the orange and bright green inside as well.

I had this stencil quote that I have just been waiting to use, and it was the perfect size for my journal.

Hope you like it !

Inspiration Wednesday-Week 6

Again, Donna came up with a very different concept for her inspiration Wednesday video. At first I wasn't certain that I would like it, but now, I am considering to make this into a canvas for my kitchen. I love the bright colors of this turquoise.

It was a double insert page, so I had fun including a fun quote that I just purchased from Impression Obsession stamps.

A closer look at the quote:

So going shopping at lunch to find the canvas, Will post when done.

Thanks again for the inspiration Donna !

IW 2015- Week 5- Love

Oh yes it was week 5 inspiration wednesday video last night and I just had to get playing with it.

It was a fairly long process to do, alot of drying time was required because we used very thick light molding paste and then construction joint spackle for texture on the book. Not to mention sticking the threads. So I started the journal before dinner and completed it quite late in the evening.

Boy was I happy to see that I had the new Donna Downey bird stencil set at home, I just wanted to do the same page as Donna, and not try to make it different. I will most likely do another version of this on a canveas at one point because I love the result.

For the nest, I opted to use lace ribbons that I had in my stash. I glued them down initially, the added some light molding paste in certain corners. Made certain to cover everything with Gel medium befor doing the washes.

A touch of Cuts2Luv flair with thsi beautiful bage as my title:

It was my sons birthday yesterday, so I dedicated this page to him, So.. since he's taller than I am now, guess who is the big bird... LOL...

Wishing you a bright and colorful day !

IW2015- Week 4 Inspire

So if you have not joined the party yet, you are missing out on some really fun mixed-media inspiration wedesdays with Donna Downey...

This week we played with our golden paints in a similar fashion to week 1, but we also added stamping big images in the mix. Now how happy was I to use theses stamps that I've had tucked away for a while.. Yup, this is me, I buy stamps like crazy and then they end up stored and not used for a long time. So... this year, I am trying to use my stash more...

We started by adding text paper to our journal, and then we played with paint washes.

While looking at the text paper... guess what I saw... My name...
Well, the text was more around the Country of France, but who cares right...
I thought this was just too funny.

Wishing you a great day and hope you are part of the IW learnings.

La Route des Scrappeuses #5

La route d'aujourd'hui, vers le Royaume Uni, chez Magda Bolinska.

On the road today, it's tie to go to the UK and get to know Magda Bolinska

http://mumkaa.blogspot.ca/

Le défi / The Challenge:

- photo de soi / a picture of ourselves
- 1 papier punché; qui a été poinçonné (avec un trou dedans). Les couleurs peuvent être flash ou vibrantes mais ce n'est pas obligatoire. / A paper with a punched image, Vibrant colors
- patouille, doodling  / Doodling

Je mes suis amusé avec l'aquarelle et j'y ai ajouté la touche d'un boutton Cuts2luv. Pour le titre, j'ai utilisé le superbe stencil de Donna Downey, coloré avec des encres.

I had fun with watercolor vibrant colors and added a lovely button from my Cuts2luv collection. For the title, I used my new Donna Downey stencil with vibant ink colors. Just love that stencil.

J'adore le couleurs vives de ma page, et le résultat final. Est-ce que vous osez les couleurs vives?

I am loving the vibant colors of my page, do you play with vibrant colors?

Inspiration Wednesday Part 3

Sooo, already week 3 of the Inspiration Wednesday sessions.

The final part of my work:

I did find this one challenging because I kinda liked where I was starting, but true to the session, I followed the steps of the class. I am pleased with the results, but trust I struggled along....

The Start, I kinda like it just like this...but had to go on:

Adding on the Buff and white:

Adding on numbers and decide to go with dark turquoise versus black, now I liked it here too, but needed to go on:

So I did, here is a close-up of the last section:

Thanks Donna for a wonderful class once again

Inspiration Wednesday 2nd Class

So have you joined in on the fun yet? It's not too late, and so I am enjoying learning about new products that I have not used before.

And guess what, funny to say, Hubby is away again tonight and it’s the second time that I focus this away time for my Inspiration Wednesday projects… Happy time in my crafty space.

For this page, I wanted to kinda following the colors that Donna had, but I had nothing close to that in my stock, so I opted for a more orangy base in my first wash color. Then I added the greys. I don't use grey very often, and I have no clue why since it is nice and classy... I wear grey often, so hmmmm why not go out of my comfort zone and go with the grey tonight...

So I used two types of mid-tone grey. One average paint and one iridescent paint. You can't catch the shimmer on camera, but I like the effect in subtle touches.

It's my birthday on friday, so on this page, behind the tab, I allowed myself some room for what I wanted to wish myself for 2015. I liked the Baggage Claim tag that I had, and the words Snapshot & Life. For some reason, they spoke to me, and I am really pleased how my page turned out. I had some old rub-ons and decided to get a few on just for fun.

I used for the background, the Tim Holtz decorative paper. You know the kind where you buy the box then store ut nicely in your room and forget to use, yes that one that I have had for over 4 years... I think it was about time I did.

So I have a few friends playing along with #IW2015, can't wait to see what they create too.

Have a great week !
