Goals & Journaling for More Than Words

Welcome 2019 !

Oh how happy I am to have 2018 done and over with...

What better way to start off a new year by setting up new goals and journaling about them. This month, I got out of my comfort zone and decided to play along in my Art Journal.

My GOALS for 2019:
  • Exercise 4 days per week
  • drink 6 to 8 glasses of water per day
  • 1 week vacation as a family (harder now with young adults that are working)
  • Embrace changes ... at work, ...in my personal life... this is not always easy for me
  • BREATHE... you've got this.... Have  more confidence in my abilities and trust I can achieve my goals.
The JOURNALING part of the challenge was completed by using a bullet card ans hand writing my goals in my journal.

Here is the inspiration board for January:

                     No automatic alt text available.

Now, I hope to see your participation in our new challenge, let's start 2019 with a creative blast !

Hugs xxx

Art Journal- Live your Dreams

A friend of mine had lent me her stencil that I had placed in my Art Journal almost 8  months ago without completing it... Last night, I was just inspired by a challenge where we needed to leave lots of white and add sprouts of colors. I kne it was time for me to tackle it once and for all.

I just love this quote from Marianne Design.

It's just a perfect thought for 2016 don't you think?

And guess what... to day is my Birthday so Happy Birthday to me and this is my wish for 2016... to Live my Dreams.

Art Journal Dina Wakley style

The birds... oh how I LOVE LOVE LOVE thoses birds.

So last thursday was my Art Journal Class at Passion Collimagination. We had fun playing with Dina Wakley paints and stamps. Just Love the dry brush technique for the background. I had already made a similar page last year, but because I needed to show how to make the background, I made a 2nd page.  So... This time around I changed the layout and colors of my birds.

I have to say that mixing the orange and the green was a bit harder then when I did my birds in the red-orange hues. But I am LOVING the result.

I often say in my class : You have to Imbrasse Imperfection... Trust me that the class participants had fun repeating my phrase when I mentionned I was struggling with my birds.. LOL

So this time around, the birds reminded me of my sons. I felt I was the mother looking over her two chicks. So this page is dedicated to them, I am so lucky to have 2 wonderful boys and love them so much...

Thanks for a fun evening.. Can"t wait to do the March class.

Art Journal Procrastination

Has it ever happened to you that you start working on a project that you never get the chance to finish? Well this is the case for my art journal page. I started the background back in November when I was teaching an Art Journal class, but never had the chance to get around and finishing it.

The stamp is not mine, but one I borrowed from a student in the december Art journal class, isn't it beautiful?

So all I was missing was my title, that I finally got the chance to glue down.

I Love making Art Journal pages, and especially like when I take my time to get one done. I am a speady type of crafter, so it's rare that I procastinate this much on a project, but I am actually glad I did in this case, because the stamp is just perfect.

So what do you procrastinate about...

Inspiration Wednesday Part 3

Sooo, already week 3 of the Inspiration Wednesday sessions.

The final part of my work:

I did find this one challenging because I kinda liked where I was starting, but true to the session, I followed the steps of the class. I am pleased with the results, but trust I struggled along....

The Start, I kinda like it just like this...but had to go on:

Adding on the Buff and white:

Adding on numbers and decide to go with dark turquoise versus black, now I liked it here too, but needed to go on:

So I did, here is a close-up of the last section:

Thanks Donna for a wonderful class once again

Inspiration Wednesday 2nd Class

So have you joined in on the fun yet? It's not too late, and so I am enjoying learning about new products that I have not used before.

And guess what, funny to say, Hubby is away again tonight and it’s the second time that I focus this away time for my Inspiration Wednesday projects… Happy time in my crafty space.

For this page, I wanted to kinda following the colors that Donna had, but I had nothing close to that in my stock, so I opted for a more orangy base in my first wash color. Then I added the greys. I don't use grey very often, and I have no clue why since it is nice and classy... I wear grey often, so hmmmm why not go out of my comfort zone and go with the grey tonight...

So I used two types of mid-tone grey. One average paint and one iridescent paint. You can't catch the shimmer on camera, but I like the effect in subtle touches.

It's my birthday on friday, so on this page, behind the tab, I allowed myself some room for what I wanted to wish myself for 2015. I liked the Baggage Claim tag that I had, and the words Snapshot & Life. For some reason, they spoke to me, and I am really pleased how my page turned out. I had some old rub-ons and decided to get a few on just for fun.

I used for the background, the Tim Holtz decorative paper. You know the kind where you buy the box then store ut nicely in your room and forget to use, yes that one that I have had for over 4 years... I think it was about time I did.

So I have a few friends playing along with #IW2015, can't wait to see what they create too.

Have a great week !

Art Jounal Fun - Scrap et Cie Qc

Un nouveau Joujou... des crayons encre de Derwent. Pour la chronique en français, je vous invite d'aller faire un tour sur le site de Scrap et Cie Qc

A new toy, my Ink crayons by Derwent. The inktense crayons are really fun to play with, I Love the intenstity of the colors.

The Inktense pencils come in a variety of kit sizes or you can buy them individually. There are 72 colors in total.

To start, I gessoed my page, then with my crayon, I drew a patern. You make the lines fairly thick to ensure you have enough ink on your page. They feel like regular crayons, but once diluted they become ink and not watercolor.

Once your drawing is done, you take a wet paint brush and start pulling the ink from outside toward the Inside. You get a nice color wash effect.
Once dry, the colour is permanent and can be worked over with other media.  I did find that on a gesso finish, if i added more water, it reactivated the ink. I would recommend avoiding adding extra water if you want to keep the product at the finish you desire. Also, note that the colors can be mixed or blended together like watercolors.

I found that it was hard to doodle with my white Uni-ball Signo pen on this page. This was a surprise since the page is supposed to be dried ink, so I was not expecting this to not work well. My black Martha Stewart Calligraphy pen pigment ink worked perfectly, so I decided to doodle with that pen and also add my journaling.

Once my doodling was completed, I wanted to add dimension and shine. I used my pearl pens to add dimention dots and Distress Glitter with glossy accents to add some shiny outlines to my turquoise lines. I finished by added some white to my lettering with my Uni-Ball Signo pen. On the black Ink, my white pen worked perfectly.

I added some touches of white gesso at the end and I was really pleased to see that it did not reactivate the ink even though gesso is waterbased. This confirms that you can add-on any new medium to this background.  Here is the finished result:

As with all water-soluble pencils, you can put a wet brush onto an Inktense pencil  to pick up some ink and then brush this onto paper. It works very well when you want to add highlights to a project or if you want to color a stamped image.
