I Love You

It's been 3 years since my dad has left us. So I always get a bit sentimental around this time of the year. I miss him so much. Since my teens are becoming cameraphobic, I am looking at alot of our old photos and found this one of my parents wedding.

I was inspired by the March challenge at Prima Marketing for this page: http://prima.typepad.com/prima/2016/03/we-have-new-challenges.html

The inspiration came from the color scheme. My mother had her brides made wear Olive green dresses at her wedding. Green isn't the most frequenlty seen color for bridesmaids, but they looked beautiful. So I thought that the color combo would be great to represent my parents wedding. This is my favorite picture of the lot. They seem so happy.

Prima Products used to build this page: Papers, flowers, Crochet Doily Die, Rub-Ons, Finnabair doily stencil, Say it in Crystals and my new favorite paints the ARTalchemy paint Metalique Green Olive.

I am loving the new paints from Finnabair. I used it to cover my chipboard title and I also mixed it with Modeling paste to use on my doily stencil. Just magical results. If you've not tried it you are missout out on a great product.

I am also entering this page in the Pink Fresh Studio challenge. This month they are requesting 3D on the pages. On my part, I have cut out this stunning piece out of the Prima papers and created a 3D ornement, as well as many layers for my flowers. I added in monochrom one of my favorite die-cuts from Pink Fresh studios the word LOVE. It's one of my favorite dies, the size is perfect and I love that font.

Thanks for the inspiration !

Carpe Diem

Lately I've been having fun trying to put together more pages of family vacations that we've done over the year. I really love the moments that we share with our boys when we are away from home, partly because we are with them 100% of the time. I am lucky, the boys ate now 17 & 18 and still willing to follow along on family activities and vacation.

I created this page with a picture taken in 2014 when we went to Tampa Forida. We visited Bush Gardens for the 1st time. Wow, what an amzing park, I fell in love with the vegetation and also the mini zoo included in the park. I love this picture because my eldest who has autisme wanted to do this ride, and my yougest decided to go with him. It was the one ride they did just as brothers. As a mom, that was pure bliss to see them together and having the opportunity to snap such a great picture. I am so proud of my boys.

I am entering this challenge in the 3 following blog challenges:
1-Cuts2Luv
2-Lindy's stamp gang
3-More than Words

For the 1st challenge Cuts2Luv March moodboard

My elements inspired by the moodboard are:
Wood, Fox, Kids Pictures (ok mine are teens) and the sketch

Now for the second challenge, Lindy's stamp gang had a beautiful color palet. I love my Lindy's products, they just work so well and are fun to use.

Here are the store links for the products I used:
The other colors in the challenge are included via the paper selection or other drops of inks

Here is the beautiful color combo:

Here is a closer look at my background with the mix of colors, just Yummy:

For the 3rd challenge, More Than Words:

I used 2 types of Gesso on my page:
Clear and Heavy Gesso
I love to cover my pages with the clear before I start applying my watercolors, magicals or Inks. I jet feel it's easier to work over clear Gesso than directly to the paper.
The Heavy Gesso I used to get the paperned paper connected to the white paper. This give the page a more blended look and also serves as a background for the inks and colors.

For Bliss: Not only is it under the picture, but really for me seeing my boys having fun together when we travel is a blissful moment. There is nothing more magical or brings me more hapiness than seeing them enjoy each others company. I am a lucky mom...

I love the wood background chosen in the picture. Lately there ahev been so many wood inspired backgrounds and accessories in the market, it is just really fun to work off of that type of paper.

So... Thanks to the 3 teams for the inpiration...

Words & Paintery February challenge -Gabriel's B-Day Card

Ok so I am posting this a bit early, Gabriel's 17th Birthday is in 2 days, so shhhhh don't let hime know I am already showing off his card...

I was inspired by the color board at Words & Paintery. Unfortunatly my purple paper is a bit on the dark side and my blue bird looks purple.. LOL. It's such a challenge even with good lighting to get the picture to be accurate to the true colors, but all 3 colors are there.
The watercolor paints I used have shimmer inside, trust when I say that the picture does not give it justice. I always get compliments on that watercolor when I use it with my friends.

Can't believe my baby is turning 17 on friday. He's already asking to drive alone... trust when I say, I am so not ready to let him go yet. I might not have a choice, he's a fine young responsable teen, but I am still a mom and heart who wants to keep him close as long as I can.

I hope he'll like his Tim Holtz crazy birds card...
